Lisa Hawker
I am a ceramic artist and sculptor previously based in Essex; now living in the Surrey Hills in a tiny village close to Cranleigh, Surrey where I am currently renting the pottery at ‘Cranleigh Arts’.
For more than thirty years I have been working with clay, mainly to commission for diverse clients, creating architectural; three dimensional; figurative & abstract ceramics.
In 2017 I made a decision to just ‘make stuff’ from this fantastic material: in this direction my efforts could be summed up as my way of striving to find balance; to create unity and harmony from chaos. Not only the personal clutter that surrounds each of us, but so too the chaotic, often crazy world we live in.
I love clay; everything about it and I just hope that my work makes people feel something; a connection maybe, and reflects the sheer joy I get from making it.
